Pianist and singer Julia Varga enjoys many different genres of music. Starting young as a classically trained pianist and singer in Albany, NY, she soon grew a strong love and appreciation for many genres of music, and has much experience in performing Pop, Indie, Classical, and Musical Theater. She competed in local and national music competitions through high school, and since arriving in Boston, has been studying piano at the Berklee College of Music. She music-directs and performs with Berklee’s only all-female a capella group, and performs various gigs and in pit orchestras on keyboard. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music Education, with a minor in Theater Music Direction / Conducting.

Julia began teaching private lessons at 14 years old, mainly beginning classical piano and beginning strings. She started directing musicals at 16 years old, both teaching the music to and accompanying shows on piano. She soon started specializing in vocalists and pianists, while still having a broad knowledge in string instruments. She has taught and worked in many different environments, from teaching in New York elementary schools to guiding and teaching adult vocalists. Julia considers her strongest teaching quality her ability to adapt to many student’s needs and levels. She firmly believes that the path to excellence in any form of music is finding joy and falling in love with your instrument, your genre, and your collaboration. She encourages exploring any and all genres, consistency, a focus on foundational technique, and always incorporating the music we love into our exercises and practice.

“I can’t thank you enough for the connection you have given my [student] through music. It’s clear that you are a natural communicator, and that you work hard to catch and engage with their interests.”
