Mauricio Campos González is a pianist and conductor from Mexico City. He currently serves as Assistant Conductor for the Turkish American Orchestra (TAO) and as Resident Music Director of the Young Professional Musicians Collective (YPMC). He also served as Associate Conductor for the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra (BCSO) for 2024-2025 season. He studied piano for five years at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City before relocating to Boston in 2021, where he pursued further studies in piano and conducting at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, under the guidance of pianists Max Levinson and Jonathan Bass and conductor Geneviève Leclair. As a pianist, Mauricio has attended the Harvard Chamber Music Festival in Massachusetts and the Fulton Summer Music Academy in Chicago, where he studied piano with Oberlin Conservatory Professor Peter Takács and participated in a Pedagogy Seminar with violinist Addison Teng. Shortly thereafter, he joined the team at Fulton Music Society, where he currently also works as Ambassador and International Liaison. He has also attended the Conductor’s Retreat at Medomak, where he studied with conductor Kenneth Kiesler, and the Conductor’s Institute of South Carolina, where he participated as a Conducting Fellow.
As a teacher, Mauricio has worked at the “Voces y Armonía” Community choir, where he taught music theory and history to youth and elderly groups in addition to his conducting work there. As part of his job as a Student Advising Mentor at the Berklee College of Music, he tutored students on 1:1 lessons for keyboard and tonal harmony courses, tailored to the individual needs of fellow students. Mauricio believes that the teacher’s most important responsibility is to take students from point A to point B, no matter what. The starting and finishing points depend on each student’s goals and interests, and Mauricio will create with you a plan to achieve those goals in your musical journey. Having worked with students from all backgrounds and levels, Mauricio believes that each student, without exception, has something important and meaningful to discover and express through music.

“Mauricio is a first-rate pianist who plays with intelligence and imagination. He is hard-working and takes his responsibilities very seriously. This perseverance and personal accountability serves him well as a pianist. Aside from his musicianship, it is also worth noting that Mauricio is an exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and mature young man.” – Max Levinson, pianist.
