Adam is a violinist, percussionist, composer, arranger, band leader and teacher. He holds a B.M. in Composition from the Berklee College of Music (as well as B.S. from Cornell University and an M.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology from a previous life in the sciences). He began as a classically trained violinist, but developed a love for Irish and Scottish fiddle music, which became his main passion for a long time. While at Berklee, he also studied jazz and Arabic violin and other folk styles, such as Balkan and Carnatic music. As a teacher, he has extensive experience as a private and classroom instructor. He believes it is important to provide a nurturing, collaborative, and communicative learning environment where students feel safe to try new things and make mistakes. After all, that’s how we learn! He believes that each student has a unique and beautiful journey in music, and he considers it an honor to help facilitate that journey.

Here’s a little bit more about Adam’s musical journey. He began to learn classical violin as well as hand percussion at the age of 5. He loved classical music and he loved playing the violin, but the truth is, as a young kid, he really hated practicing! It wasn’t until he got a little older, and when he discovered Scottish and Irish fiddle music that he got really invested. He started practicing like crazy, performing, gigging, even winning some competitions along the way for his fiddling (for example, first place at the 2015 mid-atlantic open Regional Scottish Fiddle Competition run by Scottish F.I.R.E and winning “Best March, Strathspey, and Reel” at the open US National Fiddle Competition.) He later joined a band called FLAN, which mixed funk and R&B with Hispanic music traditions while he was living in Atlanta in 2018, which greatly expanded his musical horizons as a violinist, percussionist, and composer. At the same time he was in a doctoral program in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, which was his main gig. It wasn’t until Oct of 2020 at the start of the pandemic, when he began to examine his own journey that he had the realization that he needed to pursue music in its entirety for his life to make sense. He decided to leave his doctoral program and within eight days applied to the Berklee College of Music. A few months later, in Jan 2021, he was enrolled at Berklee.

His experience was as exciting as it was overwhelming! He was able to study jazz violin, which he did with Jason Anick (and even performing for the legendary Regina Carter), Arabic violin, which he studied with Simon Shaheen, jazz arranging, and classical composition, which he discovered a deep passion for and eventually chose as his major. He was fortunate to win some recent awards for his writing: he was the recipient of the Berklee Composition department’s 2024 Jeronimas Kaçinskas Award for outstanding achievement in composition and won second prize in the prestigious 2024 American Prize Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music. His music has also been performed both locally and internationally, the most recent performance of music in Croatia by pianist Mia Elezović.

He is now an active musician and teacher in the greater Boston area while simultaneously making a career as an Architectural Acoustic Designer of performance halls, which combines his love of music, engineering and physics. He loves what he does, and hasn’t looked back! He hopes that by sharing his story, he will inspire others to embrace their unique path, whatever it may entail.
