Native to Kissimmee, Florida, tenor Jayson Banton pursued his B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Rollins College. Currently, Jayson is an M.M. in Vocal Pedagogy candidate at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, studying with Dr. Kerry Deal. As a soloist, Jayson has performed roles such as Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), Snout (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), tenor soloist (Carmina Burana), and soloist around the Boston area. Jayson is extremely excited to go into his second year with an independent study focusing on vocal load and T.A. position with the undergraduate voice pedagogy class, among other professional teaching engagements.

As a voice teacher, Jayson promotes a flexible technique that allows his students to sing across one or multiple genres of music. His experience with voice students has been from new singers to young professionals. Jayson’s teaching is strongly rooted in playing and exploring different possibilities.
