Piano, Keyboards, Voice, Songwriting
Armenian-born, Los Angeles-based vocalist, pianist, composer and educator Astghik Martirosyan is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Jazz Performance at New England Conservatory of Music.
While actively performing jazz and improvisational music in Armenia and abroad, Astghik graduated from Yerevan Komitas Conservatory with a bachelor’s degree in classical piano. Her passion for contemporary, improvisational music led to new collaborations in Los Angeles, where Astghik had been performing and teaching for several years preceding her matriculation at New England Conservatory.
Developed during years of working with students of different ages, levels and expectations, Astghik’s goals as an educator are to deliver fundamental vocal/piano techniques, while developing creativity and music aesthetics, and also to make sure that the maximum work is being done for a student to reach their potential, whatever that might be.
“As a vocalist, she possesses a rich, warm voice, expressive phrasing and excellent intonation. She’s a gifted composer, arranger and accomplished classical pianist. I admire her musicianship and her heartfelt interpretations of songs.” – Darek “Oles” Oleszkiewicz (California Institute of the Arts)
