Multi-instrumentalist Nathan See was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. He started playing saxophone in 5th grade and quickly became a stand out in his school band program. He soon discovered jazz and started to take music very seriously, performing frequently around Central Illinois and taking part in programs such as the ILMEA All-State Honors Jazz Combo and the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop.
Nathan graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. He attended on a full tuition scholarship. At Berklee, Nathan studied with George Garzone, Ralph Peterson, Tia Fuller, Darren Barrett, and performed and/or recorded with Gary Burton, Bill Frisell, Robert Glasper, Sean Jones, Bill Pierce, and Darcy James Argue. He has performed at Dizzy‚Äôs Club Coca-Cola, Scullers Jazz Club, the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival, the Belize International Jazz Festival, and several other venues across the country.
In addition to working with private students, Nathan has given masterclasses at high schools in New York, Rhode Island, California, and at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival. He also spent 5 semesters as a Core Music Tutor at Berklee, helping students succeed in their Ear Training and Harmony classes. In his teaching, Nathan emphasizes the importance of having strong fundamentals on the instrument, as well as developing the student‚Äôs ears and knowledge of music theory.
Nathan teaches all ages and levels of students on saxophone, clarinet and flute. He also teaches piano and keyboards to beginners and beginning intermediates.
