It’s amazing! This is only my 3rd class, and i can already hear the difference in my voice. I can feel it! Amazing! I look forward to each Wednesday for my lesson – it’s like the best day of my life. Even my boyfriend says that each Wednesday I’m in such a good mood before and after my voice lesson.” – Merve Berker, voice student

Boston based singer-songwriter and recording artist, Ingrid Gerdes grew up in southern Missouri, where she achieved acclaim as an opera and contemporary singer. Her musical career started at a young age when she began winning contests and honors including Female Vocalist of the Year, Featured Symphony soloist, All-State Soprano and Best Actress in a Musical.

Ingrid has a long history of performing in both the classical and contemporary music worlds. She began singing in her first band at the age of 13 and recording her first original EP at 17 all while competing and performing classical Opera.

She was trained classically at Missouri State University and the University of Kansas. She then continued her musical education focusing on contemporary styles at Boston’s Berklee College of Music where she graduated with a degree in Professional music.

As a vocal coach and instructor Ingrid believes that technique is key. “With good technique it doesn’t matter what style you choose to sing in, you will do it well and without injuring your voice.” With an extensive classical background, along with her contemporary music experience, she is able to apply those techniques to all styles of music.

In addition to private vocal coaching, Ingrid is currently working on her third original album, touring with her band and fronting The Boston Players Band. Recently Honors include being Featured Nationally on NPR’s All Things Considered, Winner of Best Band in Boston, nominated for Best Blues Song and Best R&B song by the JPF awards. You can also catch her music worldwide in retail stores Abercrombie and Fitch, Coach, Arden B, H&M and on MTV networks.

Steve Morse, writer from Rolling Stone says, ” Ingrid is still young but has a timeless voice that brings a hauntingly familiar but fresh edge to soul music. She captures the charged, neo-soul of an Amy Winehouse at times, but also the sensuous feel of a legendary singer like Irma Thomas. Her lyrics are bitingly brilliant in a survivor’s don’t-mess-with-me way, but also hopelessly romantic when the mood strikes. Ingrid’s command, her presence and her skill are all world class.”
