Zoe Lipkin is a singer and music teacher from New Jersey who is currently pursuing a master’s in vocal pedagogy at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. As a teacher, Zoe dedicates herself to learning and adapting to each student’s individual interests and learning styles. She strives to keep the innate joy of music-making at the center of lessons, so that it is enhanced by new vocabulary, practice strategies, and technical adjustments, never overwritten. The experiences that sparked her love of teaching were her positions as a private voice instructor and early childhood music teacher with the University of Delaware’s Community Music School. As a private teacher, Zoe taught students of a wide range of ages (8 to 45), interests, and ability levels. She is eager to continue this work of guiding students in developing their most sustainable technique and sharing their most authentic expression.

Zoe has extensive performance training and experience in a variety of genres, including the Western classical, jazz, pop, indie, Golden Age, contemporary musical theatre and choral traditions. As part of her undergraduate degree, she designed and performed two themed hour-long solo voice recitals, and concluded each with a small ensemble piece she transcribed or arranged to be sung a cappella. During Zoe’s time at the University of Delaware (UD), she also performed regularly with their auditioned chorale, as a chorister and frequent soloist. Zoe was also one of the founding members of the revival of UD’s Jazz Singers, a 7-member SSAATTB ensemble, which performed both jazz standards with big band accompaniment and contemporary jazz a cappella arrangements. Stage credits from her time at UD include Jo in the Harrington Theatre Arts Company’s original production Just Another Minute and the formerly enchanted lady in UD Lyric Theater’s production of Francesa Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero dall’isola d’Alcina.

While voice is Zoe’s primary instrument, she is self-taught on ukulele and has studied piano to be able to accompany herself and her voice students, and teach students interested in beginning to play those instruments. She has also participated in and taught several workshops on songwriting, another medium of artistry and connection she finds empowering. Her main priority as a performer and teacher is to create musical spaces that are kind and welcoming, and invite curiosity and creativity.

Zoe welcomes all levels of voice students, voice/piano students, and songwriting students. For piano lessons and ukulele lessons, she’s well-equipped to work with beginning students.

” I loved having Ms. Zoe as a voice coach for a couple reasons: 1: she was so nice and welcoming when I first got started and her smile is so contagious 2: she taught me some valuable lessons throughout our rehearsals. 3: she has impacted my voice for good for she has given me great advice that I still use today”. —-Fiona (former student)

“The amount of growth we saw in our daughter’s vocal ability while working with Zoe was incredible! She gave her the confidence she needed and we could tell Zoe’s heart was at the core of what she does. When someone invests their talent and time with your child, the way Zoe does, it is truly priceless”. — Rachel and Kyle (parents of a student)
