Cello

Born and raised in Oslo, Norway, Milla Magnusson graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2021, studying classical cello performance with Lluis Claret.

Milla equally enjoys performing traditional and contemporary works. From the age of five, she has performed extensively as both a solo cellist, and in a variety of chamber and orchestral ensembles.

As a classical performer, Milla has performed throughout Europe, as well as the United States.  In Boston, her studies at NEC offered her the opportunity to work closely with musicians such as the Borromeo Quartet, Merry Peckham, Don Palma, and Vivian Weilerstein among others.  Milla has had the opportunity to study with a number of world-renowned performers including Ralph Kirshbaum, Frans Helmerson, and Mats Lidström.

Milla’s love of music was greatly influenced by her dad’s love for the Beatles. Her passion outside of classical music has been pushing to discover new artists and genres. Recently, she has been involved with performing in non-classical gigs with a diverse range of band mates, transcribing a variety of music ranging from rock to reggae to include cello.

Milla hopes to share her passion for all kinds of music with her students, and looks forward to finding unique ways to make learning the cello a fun, rewarding experience. She deeply believes that all students deserve a unique approach that suits each individual’s personal learning style and musical goals.

Milla is qualified to teach cello at all levels, and beginner to lower intermediate piano.
