Originally from New Jersey, Yui Kitamura completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance and Master’s Degree in Music Education at Boston University. She has been studying piano for over fifteen years and holds a music education certification in Massachusetts. She has studied with Prof. Gila Goldstein, Prof. Linda Jiorle-Nagy, and Dr. Akiko Hosaki. She has appeared in Masterclasses with Prof. Lei Deng, Prof. Ingrid Clarfield, Prof. Ena Barton, and Dr. James Goldsworthy.

As an accomplished performer and interdisciplinary collaborator, she has a strong classical background with specialty in community outreach. Most recently, she performed at the “Patients Heal You” concert in which she collaborated with chamber musicians and patients from the Boston University Medical Campus for a performance dedicated to physicians and nurses. Furthermore, she was a Community Performer for the From the Top’s Arts Leadership Program in which she performed at community venues such as the Women’s Lunch Place, Boston’s Children’s Museum, and the Goddard House. She loves to engage the community through performances, music education, and social justice work. She also collaborates with visual artists, theater artists, poets, and musicians and curates interdisciplinary projects and performances.

Yui strongly believes that music is an universal creative outlet that everyone can pursue and bring together a community. Yui has been teaching piano and music theory for the past 9 years. She has worked with students of all ages, skill levels, and musical interests. Yui’s curriculum focuses on helping students identify their musical goals, and reaching their goals through a properly sequenced and engaging way.
