Lucia Del Guerzo began playing piano at the age four and completed the series of Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) at an early age. She began refining her skills in ensemble playing, studying piano duo at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music at the age of ten. Del Guerzo later entered the San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) as a student of Ava Soifer, where she expanded her ensemble skills to include chamber music and vocal accompanying.

She has appeared in master-classes with Frank Glazer, Anderson & Roe, Sir Thomas Allen, as well as various piano ensemble performances in the bay area. In 2010, she performed (Piano I) in the Poulenc’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Pianos with San Francisco Opera Parallèle’s conductor, Nicole Paiment, and the University of California Santa Cruz Orchestra; it marked the beginning of her success in duo piano works with her partner, Diana Chau. Aside from solo and ensemble performances, Del Guerzo was also a rehearsal pianist for ‘Seussical’ at Cabrillo College, and the production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Astoria Music Festival. An active collaborative pianist, Del Guerzo is also a music educator for various ages, previously an instructor at the Portrero Hill Music School in San Francisco.

As an instructor, Del Guerzo is known for her patience, flexibility, and ability to adapt to students’ needs. She enjoys inspiring her students the passion she has for music and hopes to encourage them to develop their own musical style. For beginner students, you will use books from Faber’s Piano Adventures and slowly get acquainted with the instrument, rhythm, and musical notation. For students who have piano background, you will work on various musical styles, techniques, and interpretation.

Del Guerzo received her Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Cameron Stowe and Jonathan Feldman; Bachelor of Arts from University of California Santa Cruz, where she studied with Mary Jane Cope, Patrice Maginnis, and Brian Staufenbiel.
